The 2008 North Coast Breast Cancer Conference

...was a huge success. The Friday evening physician symposium on October 3 was attended by nearly 70 people. The Saturday, October 4 conference saw just over 275 in attendance. There were twenty exhibitors and three major sponsors. This year’s Conference set records in all of these categories.

The 2008 Conference featured something new: breakout sessions. These gave attendees the unique opportunity to choose from five different topics to learn about the aspects of breast cancer that most interested them. Topics ranged from clinical reviews to genetics to patient support. Attendees also heard from speakers like Dr. William Gradishar (Northwestern University), Catherine Clifford (The Cancer Club) and Dr. Julie Silver (Harvard University).

At the close of the Conference, one attendee commented, “I went to last year’s conference and it was excellent. I never thought you could beat last year’s, but you did.” Certainly the highlights of this year's event were many!

Particular thanks need to go to all of the sponsors and exhibitors whose contributions really made the 2008 conference something special. The volunteers, and most especially the attendees, also need to be recognized. Without them, none of this success would have been possible.
